In September, I will be heading back to Cape Town, South Africa, to lead my second garden tour there.
In 2012, I led a tour out of Cape Town along the Garden Route, calling at Stellenbosch and Knysna on route before leaving the Western Cape to jump over to Durban and Swaziland and on to Johannesburg.
This time, we will be heading north of Cape Town to see the magical natural floral landscape of Namaqualand, famous world-wide for its spectacular spring wildflowers.
The fact that this is such a popular destination for people from all over the world meant that we needed to get our hotel reservations in very early to secure a place for viewing the Namaqualand’s unique and magnificent landscape.
We will, of course, also visit all the key sites in and around Cape Town, including Table Mountain and the Cape of Good Hope as well as taking time to sample the fine wines of the Stellenbosch area.
Following the tour, we will head off to Kruger National Park for a game drive. This is something we also did the last time I was in South Africa and it was one the highlights of the total adventure.
This tour was sold out many months ago, although I heard this week from my agent Lyle Truden at Flight Centre that there are still people trying to get on the tour. I hope we manage somehow to find a way to accommodate them as it really is a fabulous trip.

I am fully expecting this particular tour to be hugely popular, so I know it will be smart to reserve a space sooner than later. Italy is always such a delightful place to visit and we know it well now after having been there multiple times and having led several tours to various parts over the years.
I have been told by my people who have travelled with me in the past that they prefer having as much advance notice as possible for tours.
I have tended to think that six months is more than enough advance notice but apparently some people would like even more notice as they make a decision up to a year in advance of travelling.
