Out to Krka National Park to see the falls and Sibenik

It took just about 90 minutes to get there out of Split, but the time passed very quickly as the scenery on the way is quite nice.

Once inside the park, we started to walk along the wooden planks of a boardwalk that meandered through the dappled light of woodland areas with beautiful ponds, streams and rivulets running though, until we arrived at the main attraction – the dramatic Krka river falls.

Here, people like to swim or paddle in the water, which apparently is not ice cold.

We were told the park is packed with tourists in July and becomes quite uncomfortable, but we found the crowds not overwhelming.

After lunch at the falls, we took a boat down the river to Skradin where we boarded our bus and went on to the town of Sibenik, said to be the only town that Croatians founded themselves, the others being either founded by Romans or Greeks.

From Sibenik, we headed back to Split in time for a swim in our splendid hotel rooftop pool where we got to enjoy an amazing sunset.
