My next garden tour-adventure will be a 13-day Beautiful Cities Tour from May 17-29, starting in Berlin, then moving on to Prague and concluding in Vienna with a side trip to Bratislava in Slovakia.
(AS OF JAN. 4, THIS TOUR IS NOW SOLD OUT)
This tour will be a fabulous trip to some of Europe’s most beautiful, historic and culturally delightful and diverse cities and will include time at some outstanding garden spaces.
I am delighted that we will be able to stop on the way from Berlin in Dresden for lunch and have a chance to enjoy the city’s baroque architecture on the banks of the River Elbe.
From Prague to Vienna, I’ve arranged a similar stop at the beautiful Lednice castle and landscaped garden followed by a wine tasting in the castle cellar at Valtice.

The itinerary is full of similar highlights. I know you will enjoy looking through it and reviewing all the details and day-by-day activities.

We love Berlin, a city full of iconic landmarks, fascinating art and cultural institutions as well as delightful markets, restaurants, cuisine and places of historical significance.

The Tiergarten, with its beautiful Victory Column topped by Golden Lizzy (a la Wings of Desire), is one of our favourite spots to wander and ponder. But Berlin is a feast of images and experiences: Museum Island, Potsdamer Platz, East Side Gallery, Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Alexander Platz, and so much more.

Everyone loves Prague with its fabulous architecture and wonderful music scene, both jazz and classical.
A city untouched by time, with a superb mix of baroque, renaissance and modern architecture, it is rich in culture and is the only place I have been where the street-buskers are a total delight because they play Vivaldi and Mozart and top-notch jazz. You will find that we have arrange a special jazz night in Prague as well as a classic music night in Vienna.

Vienna is such a classy, elegant city, full of history and art and music and with a phenomenal cafe and concert culture as well as first rate gardens and museums. What’s not to love. The challenge will be to see it all.

We always regret not doing more when we were last in Vienna, especially not seeing Klimt’s Kiss and some of the amazing Bruegel paintings at the Art History Museum. I definitely want to remedy that oversight. I have made a point of giving everyone a free day in Vienna to allow plenty of time for shopping as well as seeing sights that may not have been on our itinerary. It is a city with an abundance of charm and highlights.

Last time, we were there we got to stand in Mozart’s bedroom and see where he wrote the Magic Flute and where we saw some of his superb manuscripts, completed in one perfect draft. Amazing. This is an experience I want people on the tour to have, so I have included a visit to this special place on the tour.
From Vienna, we know it would fun to go to Bratislava in Slovakia. It is only a stones throw away and people often do an easy day trip there from Vienna.
