At the John Lennon Wall of Peace in Prague

A love of gardens and gardening was what connected people who came on the tours. It’s one of the key reasons the tours were so successful.

At the Peace Wall in Belfast

An interest in gardens was certainly a defining filter that brought together likeminded people with similar interests, experiences and taste.

Japan 2014. On the bullet train

Loraine, and I also took many trips on our own. These personal vacations often gave us inspiration for future group tours.

On our private trips, we always made a point of visiting outstanding gardens. And we never missed an opportunity to attend key garden events and festivals, such as the Chelsea Flower Show and the Philadelphia Flower Show.

This gave us the confidence to later take groups to these shows and to places we knew they would love.

2019 France-Enland Tour 27. Group seeing the sites in Paris

We also made a point of dropping into local garden centres, nurseries and celebrated gardens to see what was trending and cutting-edge in terms of plant material, garden decor and garden design. All of this helped us in the planning of future group tours.

2012 South Africa. Tour No 8. At Cape of Good Hope

Great Garden Tours is dedicated to the dozens of people  travelled with us over the years.

Some came on only one or two trips. Others came on multiple tours and ended up becoming friends, and even still talk about the tour group as “family.”

2019 Japan. Tour 27. Sake tasting in Takayama.

We appreciate their kindness, intelligence, curiosity and generosity.

Like us, they know it is essential to travel with an open heart and an open mind, and always to embrace the spontaneous and serendipitous with as much enthusiasm as they enjoyed the carefully planned and scheduled.

We wish them all happiness, success and continued joy in their travels.
